Food Description | People who are unable to tolerate the milk sugar lactose should avoid, or strictly limit, dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese. Lactose that has not been digested moves into the colon, where bacteria use it as a food source, and in doing so create large volumes of gas. Milk temporarily neutralises acid secretion, but this is followed by a rise in levels of acidity. |
