Herbal Supplements Name 2 : Prost-Aid

Description

It is common for the prostate gland to become enlarged as a man ages. Doctors call the condition benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or benign prostatic hypertrophy. According to WHO, more than 50% males in the 50 plus age groups suffer from BPH and the incidence might be high as 90% at 85 years. This makes BPH a condition of increasing importance as the population ages. Symptoms include frequent urination, inability to empty the bladder, involuntary urination, dysuria and strangury and even nocturia. As a man matures, the prostate goes through two main periods of growth. The first occurs early in puberty, when the prostate doubles in size. At around age 25, the gland begins to grow again. This second growth phase often results, years later, in BPH. Though the prostate continues to grow during most of a man’s life, the enlargement doesn’t usually cause problems until late in life. BPH rarely causes symptoms before age 40.

As the prostate enlarges, the layer of tissue surrounding it stops it from expanding, causing the gland to press against the urethra like a clamp on a garden hose. The bladder wall becomes thicker and irritable. The bladder begins to contract even when it contains small amounts of urine, causing more frequent urination. Eventually, the bladder weakens and loses the ability to empty itself. Urine remains in the bladder. The narrowing of the urethra and partial emptying of the bladder cause many of the problems associated with BPH. Many people feel uncomfortable talking about the prostate, since the gland plays a role in both sex and urination. Still, prostate enlargement is as common a part of aging as gray hair. As life expectancy rises, so does the occurrence of BPH.

Prost-Aid is a comprehensive herbal formulation containing time-tested botanicals that are useful in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or benign prostatic hypertrophy. It relieves the symptoms of BPH with reduction in prostate weight. It also improves urinary flow rate while reducing post-void residual urine. It also inhibits prostatic stromal proliferation.

DIETARY ADVICE :
Although you cannot prevent the prostate from enlarging, you can take measures to reduce your symptoms. Limit intake of liquids in the evening, especially drinks containing alcohol and caffeine. Cutting back helps to minimise the number of times you have to urinate during the night. Also, drinking too much alcohol may irritate the bladder or prostate. Ask your doctor whether if you can change or eliminate medications that may be aggravating the problem. These medications include antihistamines, diuretics, decongestants, antispasmodics, tranquilisers and certain types of antidepressants. These can weaken the bladder muscle or narrow the opening of the prostate. Take every opportunity to use the bathroom and allow yourself enough time to empty your bladder completely. Eat plenty of cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and cabbage. Include yellow and deep orange vegetables such as carrots and pumpkin. Have fresh vegetable juice every day. To nourish the prostrate gland, have zinc rich foods every day such as seafood, spinach, sunflower seeds, whole grains and especially pumpkin seeds. Include apples and berries. Avoid dairy products.
